As Special Counsel for Wells Haslem, Kate draws on over a decade of experience working in journalism and communications to provide high-level strategic advice and support.
Kate started her career with UNICEF Australia. In this role she raised awareness of UNICEF’s work across all forms of media including print, online, television and radio. Kate managed UNICEF’s celebrity ambassador program and was responsible for accompanying celebrities and media on international field trips to promote UNICEF’s humanitarian work.
Kate later worked as a journalist and producer for SBS Television’s Insight program, hosted by Jenny Brockie. At SBS she researched, produced and co-ordinated individual episodes of Insight. This involved identifying current issues of national importance and generating original story ideas, writing research briefs, interviewing expert talent, researching and producing tape stories and producing content for Insight’s website and social media platforms.
Most recently Kate worked in a communications role at the University of Wollongong (UOW). AT UOW she was responsible for promoting the work of the Australian Centre of Cultural Environmental Research. She generated media opportunities, simplified complex research into easy-to-understand content for a range of audiences, managed and maintained website and social media content and organised a variety of events.
Kate studied journalism at Charles Sturt University.
